Loading a Design into Wunderfold
Here are nine ways to load an image or design into Wunderfold:
- Click Choose Image and pick an image (such as a PNG or JPG) from your computer. (This is how most pattern makers work).
- Click Choose Image and pick an an SVG from your computer.
- Click Choose Image and pick an existing pattern PDF that includes a black and white pattern image from your computer.
- Drag and drop any of the above from your computer straight onto the Choose Image button.
- Right click an image (that you have the rights to use, obviously) on the web and select Copy Image to copy it. Paste the image into Wunderfold.
- Copy an object or shape directly from your design software. Paste into Wunderfold.
- Save a screenshot of your design software (or word processor, or anything else), then load the screenshot file into Wunderfold.
- Take a screenshot directly to your clipboard, then paste into Wunderfold.
- On an iOS or Android device, tap Choose Image, then use the file picker to take a selfie (or any photo) with your camera 😀
Taking a screenshot on Windows
Press Windows key+Shift+S
to open the snipping tool. Make sure the selected mode is Rectangular Snip. Click and drag to draw a rectangle around the area you want to capture. After you have captured the screenshot, press Ctrl+C
to copy it to your clipboard. Then in Wunderfold you can press Ctrl+V
to paste the image into Wunderfold.
Taking a screenshot on macOS
You can use Cmd+Shift+4
to take a cropped screenshot of any part of your screen on macOS. It will save a file to your desktop. To save the screenshot to your clipboard instead, use Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4
. Then switch to Wunderfold and press Cmd+V
to paste the image. For more info, see
To choose an easier keyboard shortcut to use for taking a screenshot, open your Settings app, then go to Keyboard, then Shortcuts. Choose Screenshots, then click the shortcut you want to change and type a new shortcut.
Copy and pasting from Affinity Designer
If you use Affinity Designer, SVGs can be copied directly from Affinity. To get this to work, first you must enable an option to copy as SVG.
